Die Stiftung Preußische Schlösser und Gärten Berlin-Brandenburg (SPSG) beteiligt sich am 16. Oktober 2024 mit der Schließung der Berliner Schlösser Charlottenburg, Grunewald, Glienicke und Schönhausen am Aktionstag #BerlinIstKultur. Diese symbolischen Schließungen sollen deutlich machen, was der Kulturlandschaft in der Hauptstadt drohen könnte, wenn die für das kommende Jahr geplanten Kürzungen im Kulturbereich Realität werden.
Obwohl der Kulturetat nur 2,5 % des Gesamthaushalts ausmacht, plant der Berliner Senat Einsparungen, die das kulturelle Erbe Berlins und seine Vielfalt infrage stellen. Die Kürzungen würden viele Institutionen und eine Mehrheit der Kunstschaffenden betreffen. Sie wären nicht nur ein Debakel für die Kultur, sondern würden auch das Image und die Anziehungskraft Berlins beeinträchtigen.
Die Schließungen am Aktionstag stehen für die Gefährdungen, mit der Kultureinrichtungen wie die SPSG bald konfrontiert sein könnten. Weniger Angebote, reduzierte Programme, verkürzte Öffnungszeiten oder gar Schließungen ganzer Häuser sind mögliche Folgen, die auch Thema einer parallel stattfindenden Betriebsversammlung sein werden.
Mit dem Aktionstag #BerlinIstKultur wird die Politik aufgefordert, die angekündigten Kürzungen abzuwenden.
Es ist jetzt an der Zeit, gemeinsam für den Erhalt der Kultur einzustehen.

The Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg (SPSG) is taking part in the #BerlinIstKultur day of action on 16 October 2024 with the closure of the Berlin palaces of Charlottenburg, Grunewald, Glienicke and Schönhausen. These symbolic closures are intended to make clear what could threaten the cultural landscape in the capital if the cuts planned for the coming year in the cultural sector become reality.
Although the cultural budget only accounts for 2.5% of the total budget, the Berlin Senate is planning cuts that call into question Berlin's cultural heritage and its diversity. The cuts would affect many institutions and a majority of artists. They would not only be a debacle for culture, but would also damage Berlin's image and appeal.
The closures on the day of action represent the threats that cultural institutions such as the SPSG could soon be confronted with. Fewer offers, reduced programs, shorter opening hours or even the closure of entire institutions are possible consequences, which will also be the subject of a works meeting taking place at the same time.
The #BerlinIstKultur day of action calls on politicians to avert the announced cuts.
