Neues Palais – Prinz-Heinrich-Wohnung

New Palace – Prince Henry’s ApartmentOpulent Splendor for the King's Brother

The apartment of Prince Henry of Prussia, a brother of King Frederick the Great, is an impressive example of Friderician Rococo. Frederick the Great had a prestigious guest apartment furnished for Prince Henry and his wife Wilhelmine of Hesse-Kassel in the New Palace, complete with luxurious chandeliers, precious silk wallpaper and two parade beds. These works of art make the apartment one of the most opulent sequences of rooms in the New Palace. A visit to this apartment not only offers an insight into the architectural splendor of the late Rococo period, but also into the life and role of Prince Henry, who was often overshadowed by his famous brother.
