Can Eurocentric Museums Decolonize Themselves?Presentation by Professor Tukufu Zuberi, University of Pennsylvania (in englischer Sprache)

Our talk will focus on how Black Bodies are represented in Museums and Monuments.  Using examples from our visit to the renowned Charlottenburg Palace and the Spandau Citadel we discuss these two very different spaces as part of the conversation about decolonizing narratives. National Narratives need museums and monuments that justify the existence of the Nation. In times of change, struggles around the nation's history, the world, and the future are forced to find a new definition expressed in these spaces of public discourse, education, memory, and narratives between the past and future.

Tukufu Zuberi, is an American sociologist, filmmaker, social critic, educator and writer. He has appeared in several documentaries about Africa and the African diaspora. He is a professor of African Studies at the University of Pennsylvania.
