Coins and Medallions
The SPSG collection includes around 1,600 coins and medallions. About 1,500 of them stem the collection of the burgraves and zu Dohna princes purchased with funds from the Stiftung Deutsche Klassenlotterie Berlin. The majority are Brandenburg-Prussian coins and thaler from the 16th to 19th centuries, with a few ancient coins and thaler from German-speaking regions of the past. The collection is not currently on display.
Medals
In 1980 it was possible to purchase for Charlottenburg Palace the extensive and much regarded Max Aurich medal collection (350 objects) with a main focus on Prussian medals and decorations. Access to the collection is currently limited to specialists and researchers.
Historical Weapons
There are over 150 weapons in the SPSG inventory encompassing shotguns, rifles and pistols, as well as hunting knives from the 16th to 19th centuries and other historical hunting equipment. The collection is located at Grunewald Hunting Lodge.
Individual Decorative Arts Objects
This section of the collection contains a total of 950 objects from the personal effects of the Hohenzollern dynasty. They are mainly memorabilia and small collectors’ items, writing utensils and toiletries, boxes and cases, and toys made of materials such as wood, ivory, amber or semiprecious stones. The objects would have been part of the décor in, for instance, the studies of Crown Princess Elisabeth at Charlottenburg Palace or Queen Augusta at Babelsberg Palace.
