Charlottenhof Villa

To the info page of the venue

Charlottenhof Villa is considered one of the masterworks of the architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel. This reflects both the exterior design as well as the interior decoration, which is largely preserved. The small, Italianesque palace was built in 1826–29 as the summer residence of the crown prince and later king, Frederick William IV.
The villa is erected on a rectangular ground plan that is perfectly aligned from north to south, although emphasis is placed on the axis leading from west to east. The representative, Mayn interiors of the villa that lie along this axis, the vestibule and dining hall, tower up over the building structure – and are consequently joined by their own saddleback roof – while architecturally projecting forward from the façade.
The east-west axis carried out in architecture is continued in the garden landscape by the Rose Garden laid out to the east after 1835, and with the Poet’s Grove (Dichterhain) and the linked Hippodrome to the west. The building is embedded in a park landscape designed by Peter Joseph Lenné. Due to its intimate atmosphere, Charlottenhof is a highlight especially suited to small groups.

We offer a fixed group price that depends on a maximum number of participants. This price includes entry to the respective palace for the group as well as, depending on availability, a personal guided tour, an audio guide tour, or the use of an app via a personal technical device (e.g., smartphone).

If the number of participants exceeds the maximum limit for the program, the group will be divided. Each subgroup will be allocated a specific entry time, and the group price will be calculated accordingly per subgroup. For some palaces, an additional fee is offered for the second entry time slot, up to a certain number of persons. This fee cannot be booked separately.

There is no minimum number of participants for a group booking. Programs can be offered in various languages, including personal tours in German and English, as well as the use of audio guides and tours in the SANSSOUCI app with additional language versions. Further information about the tours and language versions can be found in the current group price list.

If groups are accompanied by a licensed tour guide from the SPSG, a 10% discount is granted on the group package price. This discount does not apply to group bookings with an audio guide. Special openings for groups are possible upon request outside the regular opening hours of the palaces. The price for a special opening consists of the group price, a special opening fee, and, if applicable, additional personnel costs.

All information is subject to availability and changes. Group prices are only valid in conjunction with the General Terms and Conditions for Groups of the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg. All prices mentioned are exempt from VAT according to § 4 No. 20a UStG.

Important notice for school and youth groups

The group rate for students applies uniformly to school and youth groups, including vocational schools and universities, up to the age of 27. It is necessary for the booker to indicate in writing during the booking process that it concerns a school or youth group. Furthermore, written confirmation must be provided that the age restriction will be adhered to. A maximum number of participants, including teachers and chaperones, applies to school and youth groups. If this number is exceeded, the class will be divided into two groups.

The General Terms and Conditions for Group Tourism of the Stiftung Preußische Schlösser und Gärten Berlin-Brandenburg apply.
